The story of King's Courtyard Artists' Collective ( KCAC ), is a fascinating picture of our past, our unique vibrant present, and a bright future! KCAC is a group of talented artist/members representing numerous genres of art. We showcase both fine art and unique finely-crafted boutique items.
Fine art paintings, sculpture, drawings, painted glass and jewelry, clothing, lamps, and books are just a small sample of the items represented in our spacious three room gallery. We also have a Community Art space where members of the community can show one or two pieces of their work at no cost and receive the full asking price if their work sells.
The King's Courtyard began as an outdoor gallery located in a concrete courtyard between 121 and 123 E. King St. in York, PA. Its creation in 2012 was the result of conversations with supportive friends, donations of materials, time and energy and a small group of artists. The original philosophy was simple: create a family-friendly environment where artists could show their work without having to go through the traditional channels of approaching established galleries. We were welcoming to all and the original group of artists was eclectic.
Our first shows ran on the first Fridays of April, May, and June of 2012. From there, The King's Courtyard moved indoors on a "Gentleman's Handshake" to our current location of 124 E. King St.
We changed our name to King's Courtyard Artists' Collective - but not our mission: To actively and compassionately support each other and the members of our community in the arts in ways that reinforce our unique ability to make arts experiences friendly and accessible to the community at large.
As an artist collective, we work together- sharing ownership, risk, benefits and status. Our gallery is staffed and operated entirely by volunteers, and our members embrace and acknowledge the benefit and richness of a cross-combination of creative minds and disciplines, ideas and approaches.
As we move into the future, we remember our roots and all the visitors and members, past, present, and future, who have given of themselves to add to the continuing evolution of who we are and what we do at King's Courtyard Artists' Collective. KCAC continues to preserve that family-friendly, community-focused vision
as we work together toward a brighter future.
